On March 28, the modification of article 43.1 of the Law on the Hydrocarbons Sector came into force – included in Royal Decree-Law 8/2023, of December 27 – which prohibits supply between retail distributors and from retail distributors to wholesale operators, with the aim of combating the fraudulent practices that some companies have been carrying out with impunity in the fuel distribution sector in Spain since May 2015 – the date on which this same article was modified, allowing what is now prohibited – and which is seriously affecting the sector.
